Project Overview

eGas is a B2B software provider serving gas station operators in Mexico. Their existing website had significant visual and content issues: it was outdated, poorly maintained, and made it difficult for interested businesses to find the information they needed to evaluate the company's services. I led both the design and front end development of the redesign.

Problem
The previous site's visual design and information structure created friction for visitors trying to learn about eGas's services and decide whether to reach out. Content was hard to find, and the outdated look undercut the credibility a B2B software provider needs when trying to win the trust of gas station operators evaluating a purchase.
Goals
  • Modernize the visual design to better reflect credibility as a B2B software provider
  • Restructure content so visitors could easily find the information they needed
  • Showcase the company's active presence in the gas industry through an events calendar
  • Deliver both design and front end implementation for the new site
Research
Research combined a UX audit of the existing site using Nielsen's usability heuristics with competitive benchmarking of similar B2B software providers and companies serving the gas station sector. The heuristic audit identified where the previous site broke basic usability principles, such as visibility of system status and consistency in navigation, while the benchmarking clarified how comparable businesses structured their sites and communicated credibility to a B2B audience.
Key insights
  • The heuristic audit surfaced concrete usability violations in the existing site, poor visibility of information and inconsistent navigation, that were direct contributors to visitors struggling to find what they needed, not just a matter of outdated visual style
  • A B2B buyer evaluating specialized software needs to find credibility signals quickly, information that was previously buried or hard to locate was directly undermining trust before a conversation could even start
  • eGas's active presence at industry events like Expo ONEXPO Nacional is a credibility signal specific to their sector, since gas station operators are more likely to trust a vendor visibly embedded in their industry, which shaped the decision to give the events calendar a dedicated section rather than treating it as a minor detail
  • An outdated visual design carries a specific cost for B2B software: it raises doubts about whether the product itself is current and well maintained, even when that has nothing to do with the software
User profile
Primary users are gas station operators and decision makers evaluating management software for their business, looking for clear information about capabilities and credibility signals before reaching out.
